THE INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE OF ETHICAL FINANCIAL SERVICES LEADERS

Powered By Transparency Task Force

Our Mission

The League’s Mission is to recognize and empower those leaders whose actions are in furtherance of the Finance Development Goals or a similar set of ethics-based principles. By promoting ethical leadership and ethical leaders; and by providing a shared platform for collaboration, change and growth, we hope to inspire others - not just other leaders, but the Financial Sector as a whole. .

Our Vision

The League’s Vision is to build an international network of ethical leaders within the Financial Sector that can influence industry norms for the benefit of society. Whilst the ultimate beneficiaries of the League’s work will be consumers, the Financial Sector itself will also benefit through improved market conduct, increased trust in the services it provides, and improved well-being and satisfaction of its participants.

Our Operations

The operations of the League will be determined by its membership subject to legal regulatory and administrative limitations that may be imposed from time-to-time or required by virtue of the League's affiliation with TTF or the independent obligations of its constituent members. The League will commence with monthly meetings. The broad purpose of the League's monthly meeting will be to develop the strategies and tactics needed to realise its vision and accomplish its mission. Meetings will be conducted by Zoom.

Our Objective

The League’s Objective is to carry out a range of activities that will help to drive positive, progressive and purposeful finance reform through ethical leaders, such as: exploring, evaluating and articulating what good leadership in financial services means demonstrating and evidencing that good, ethical, values-based and purposeful leadership does not detract from commercial success; but stimulates it providing support, guidance, teaching and mentoring to leaders wishing to evolve a more complete and a more enlightened approach to leadership showcasing leaders that are good examples to others in the knowledge that there is a tremendous need to “show what good looks like” and what the journey to “good” can involve when appropriate and when it would be constructive to do so, to call out poor leadership and to demonstrate an unwillingness to tolerate that which should not be tolerated to become the recognised, established and credible platform for ethical leaders in financial services to speak up and share their views to become a helpful, valuable, collaborative and mutually supportive community of like-minded financial services leadership professionals around the world to speak at relevant industry events, acting as Ambassadors of the League, to “fly the flag” for better leadership in the sector to engage with universities and business colleges with a view to encouraging finance courses which ensure that the role of ethical leadership in the sector is properly included as part of the curriculum to actively engage with policymakers, politicians, regulators, trade bodies and professional associations with a view to influence thinking, policy making and market conduct around the world.

Leaders can act as levers on the fulcrum of systemic change that is required

While the role and behaviours of leaders are absolutely crucial, we fully acknowledge that the relationships, culture, structures, processes and workflows that they help to create around them are also key to the transformational change that is needed, because no systemic transformation comes about by changing the leaders alone, whether they themselves change or they themselves are changed for others.
